Creating a hideable cookie notice

In some jurisdictions it is now expected that you place a notice on your site explaining that the site uses cookies. since this notice can be intrusive, it is useful to be able to let the user hide it.

In this article we explain how to create such a notice.

Summary:

We will be using a Layout Element to display our notice, and the then using Themes to allow the user to switch it off for them. The actual notice is stored in a Table.

Method:

Create a new Layout Element

Layout manager / Layout / Add

Name it 'Cookie notice'

On the Display Rules tab, click the Theme icon (palette)

Select Value stored in Theme

For the Table, click Add, and name the new table 'Cookie Theme'

For the Field, click Add, and accept the name 'Display Layout Element'
