User-permissions regulate access and action
Powerful user-access controls are built in from the ground up with unlimited usergroups and users. Each component has user-controls to regulate access and action. All controlled from easy to use pop-up control panels.
neatComponents handles all this complexity - and much more - straight out of the box, so you never need worry about coding login pages, cookie management, or security encryption.
See 'The Guide' for detailed configuration advice >
Access Controls
Whilst trivial brochureware sites don't particularly care who's looking at them, one of the most tricky aspects with modern websites is the need to allow subsets of visitors to have access to content that is denied to others, and of course, to allow the site owner access to the editing controls.
Permission System
Members of the public arriving at a neatComponents website will not notice any difference from an ordinary website. When visitors are logged on, however, the site designer can control exactly what additional pages and sections they can see and what actions they have permission to do. Tasks or areas of the site that a visitor does not have permission to use are 'hidden', so they are not tantalized by links they cannot use.
Allow user-editing and keep control.
neatComponents makes the complexity of assigning user permissions and site access a simple, point-and-click task.
Users and User Groups
In order to simplify the management of possibly large numbers of Users, neatComponents provides a number of easy to use management systems. There are a number of built-in User Groups and you can create an unlimited number of extra user groups, using the User Group Manager :
User Manager
The User Manager provides a structured form to receive the details of your Users. The minimum information required for each user is their email address and a password, but the form allows for the collection of full 'address-book style' information if required.
User Groups
Each User is assigned to a user Group and there can be an unlimited number of User Groups. The actual access to any individual page or component is set by User Group. Access is managed in the 'Behavior Editor' for each component and is easily controlled by simple 'check boxes'.
Create secure Extranets easily.
Combining the ease of User management with the power of the Permission System makes it easy to create Extranets. Every page, every component has Permissions that can be set on a User -group by User group basis. Access to the web content management system is by a secure combination of username and password.
In all cases user passwords are one-way encrypted to prevent exposure even in the event of the server being physically compromised. The neatComponents server can work with SSL secure certificates when end-to-end encryption is required
